presenting world-class Chamber Ensembles in Southern New Mexico
about lccms
The Las Cruces Chamber Music Society is focused on presenting today’s pre-eminent chamber ensembles and musicians in a region that has long yearned for high-level performance. Our guest artists will give recitals, perform at informal venues throughout the city, and participate in educational outreach at our schools.
Audiences can expect intimate, relaxed experiences where every level of musical knowledge is welcome. Our aim is to demystify the classical music experience, and to break down some of the barriers that prevent a greater appreciation of this deeply human art form.
In an effort to create as much access to these experiences as possible, all formal performances will cost no more than $11, with the opportunity for audience members to contribute further support if desired.
Meet our founder
A native of Las Cruces, New Mexico, James Dion Blanchard has a multi-faceted career as flutist, conductor, and chamber musician. Educated at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music, and The Juilliard School, James has performed with such ensembles as the New York Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the San Jose Chamber Orchestra. He is a founding member of two award-winning woodwind quintets, and is a regular guest conductor of the Orchestra Society of Philadelphia.
James’ vision is to bring his wide-ranging experience back to his beloved hometown of Las Cruces, and to share the joys of performance and music education with the community that first encouraged his development as a musician.
